About ECA Industry

ECA Industry Association is a European industry association that brings together organizations developing and applying hypochlorous-acid-based solutions across a wide range of hygiene and functional applications.

The association provides a neutral platform for collaboration, knowledge sharing, and regulatory alignment among companies active in healthcare, skincare, food and agriculture, animal care, infrastructure, and water-related applications.

Hypochlorous acid solutions are increasingly used beyond traditional disinfection, offering advantages in safety, effectiveness, and compatibility with sensitive human, animal, and environmental contexts. ECA Industry Association supports the responsible development and adoption of these solutions by promoting science-based practices, application-specific understanding, and constructive engagement with regulators and stakeholders.

ECA Industry Association is an Accredited Stakeholder Organisation (ASO) recognised by the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA), enabling structured dialogue with regulatory authorities and contributing industry expertise to the development and implementation of relevant regulatory frameworks.

History

ECA Industry Association was founded in 2022 in Copenhagen by a broad group of industry players working with electrochemical activation technologies, who recognised the importance of uniting around responsible development and regulatory alignment as hypochlorous-acid-based solutions gained wider adoption.

Initially focused on technical collaboration and shared understanding, the association evolved alongside the industry as applications expanded beyond traditional disinfection into healthcare, skincare, food and agriculture, animal hygiene, infrastructure, and water-related contexts. This growth brought increased regulatory, safety, and standards-related considerations, shaping the association’s role accordingly.

Today, ECA Industry Association serves as a neutral platform for industry coordination and constructive regulatory dialogue, supporting science-based and application-appropriate use of hypochlorous acid solutions in Europe. This evolution is reflected in the association’s recognition by the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) as an Accredited Stakeholder Organisation (ASO).

Purpose

To serve as a structured, neutral interface between the hypochlorous acid industry and regulatory, scientific, and policy stakeholders, enabling informed dialogue, alignment, and coordination at the European level.
